Scriptural Symbolism

Scriptural Symbolism
Numbers:
1= Most holy, unity between Christ and the Father; and uniqueness of God (John 17 Acts 1:26 Luke 10:42 Matt 6:22 Matt 19:6)
2=Dualism, unity or gathering, separating or division; dualism, opposition. (Gen. 1:27; Mark 6:7, 1 king 18:21; Matt 7:13-14, 2 Nephi 2)
3=covenant; testimony; witnesses; Godhead; Power of God; presidency (Gen. 15, 1 Cor 15:4, 1 john 5:7-8, Luke 13:32, Matt 18:16, Gen 6:10, & ch. 15)
4=completion; man; mortality; man and glory; square; 4 corners or earth; cherubim or beasts; 4 horns of alter (Gen 2:10, Rev. 7:1, Ezek. 1; Rev. 4:6, Rev. 9:13, 2 Chron. 3)
5 & 10=Atonement, Grace, Mercy, Perfect, complete under the covenant; symbol of half , as 10 is a whole; 10 plagues; 10 commandments; 1/10th (tithing); 10 virgins; feeding 5,000 with 5 loaves (Matt 25:2; Jn. 4:18, Matt 14:21 Mark 6:38 , 8:19)
6=man, evil and incomplete; 6= 4+2 (mans world + man’s opposition to God) It is also thought of as less (1) than perfection (7); It is also half of the priesthood of God (12) (Gen 1:27; Rev. 13:6)
7=Completion; covenant; fulfillment; perfection; sanctified; covenant (Rev. 15:8, Lev. 25:2-6, Lev. 8:11, 2 Kings 5:12; Rev. 1:12&16)
8= “One who abounds in strength” ; A new beginning; abundance (Col 2:11)
10=Ordinal Perfection- the perfection of divine order; 10 commandments; tithing 1/10th; 10 plagues; power of the Anti-Christ (Mal. 3:8-10, Exo. 9:14, Rev. 12:3)
12= God’s government on earth; elective purposes of God or symbolic of calling and election (Matt 10:1, Gen. 35: 22-27, Rev. 7)
40= Life; Mortality; trials; renewal; or new beginning (Gen 7:17; Jonah 3:4, Matt. 4:2, Acts 1:3)
50=Jubilee; deliverance (Lev. 23:27, Acts 2:1)
70= God’s administration of the World (Gen. 10, 46:27; Luke 10:1)
666= Number of the beast (Rev. 13:18)
144,000= the number ‘12’ (elect)(Rev. 7:4; 14:1) squared, and multiplied by 1000 an indefinitely large number of saints who kept their covenants and were preserved by God (D&C 77:11)

Body Parts:
Eye= perception; light and knowledge
Head=governing, thoughts,
Ears=obedience; hearing (spiritually listening)
Mouth=speaking
Hair= modesty; covering, rich, (slaves were shaved bald)
Members= offices and callings
Heart= inner man; courage; feelings; love
Hands=action, acting (we make covenants with our hands)
Right hand=covenant hand; making covenants
Bowels= center of emotion ; whole being
Loins= posterity; preparing for action (gird up your loins)
Liver= center of feeling
Reins= Kidneys; center of desires, thoughts
Arm= power
Foot= mobility; foundation
Toe= cleansing rites (Lev. 14:17)
Nose= anger (Job 4:9)
Tongue= speaking
Blood= life of the body; Christ’s Blood; Atonement
Knee= humility; submission (Every knee will bow)
Shoulder= strength; effort
Forehead= total dedication, loyalty

Colors:
White=purity; righteousness; exaltation
Black=evil; famine; darkness
Red= sins; bloodshed
Blue= heaven; godliness; remembering and keeping God’s commandments
Green= life; nature
Amber= sun; light; divine glory
Scarlet=royalty; also blood or sin (Sins as scarlet)
Silver= worth, but less than Gold
Gold= the best; exaltation

Random Words:
Babylon= Worldliness; Satan’s Kingdom (definition also includes, Assyria, Persia, Eygpt, etc. depending on the story)
Bread=life of Christ, Gospel
Living Water= Blood of Christ
Horse=war; victory; power to conquer
Donkey=peace
Palms=joy; triumph; victory;
Hosanna=save now
Wings=act to move or act (act in Gods name)
Crown=power; dominion; exaltation; kingdoms
Robes= royalty; kings/queens; exaltation; priesthood robes
Ring=inheritance
Dragon=satan
Atonement= At-one-ment = at one with God
Rod= Gospel; word of God
Fire=glory; destruction;
*Not all these definitions are exact and work with every word, but most of the time they work, you may have to ponder on them for a while till you figure out which part of the definition works with that particular scripture.
